Strategic consulting and development of open-source digital tools

open-source-digital-tools

Over the years, Platoniq has specialized in developing technology projects that put the user at the center.

In 2011, we launched Goteo, the pioneering civic crowdfunding platform dedicated to strengthening the social and solidarity economy; to date, more than 9,000 projects have applied to be supported collaboratively. Following a selection and support process, the platform has redistributed more than 21 million euros and has succeeded in bringing together an active and committed community of more than 350,000 people.

In addition, we are one of the developers of Decidim, a civic participation technology platform, for organizations and institutions.

How do we do it?

Platoniq is both a civic innovation lab and a project incubator that develops and connects good ideas with the contexts that need them. In this regard:

  • We add value by supporting collective initiatives of all kinds in channeling participation through digital interfaces.
  • Throughout the project cycle, we seek to promote collaborative and open work, using free licenses to ensure that every development and innovation is returned to the commons.
  • We work based on the best practices and ethical principles of the free and open-source software communities.
  • We foster a sense of belonging within communities as they decide on their own rules, promoting self-regulation and autonomy.
  • We develop technology specifically designed to empower communities.
  • We connect decision-makers and participants to ensure effective citizen participation at every stage of the process.

ANECA is opening up participation to the entire university and scientific community, proposing for the first time a process of collective deliberation to gather input on this matter. This marks the launch of ANECA’s new participation platform, where, over the course of several weeks, users will be able to contribute to the definition of this evaluation model. Specifically, several ways to participate are available, aimed at discussing the text of the published draft: users can propose amendments to each paragraph of the draft, support amendments proposed by others, and also write and rate comments on them. All of these contributions—whose relevance will be determined by the level of support each garners from the community—will be taken into consideration by ANECA and may result in specific modifications to the draft prior to its publication as a final document.

Agora Democratiche. A framework for technopolitics and participatory democracy that spawned several spin-offs, including the online voting platform Consiglio Remoto and the Agora Democratiche platform for the Italian Democratic Party (PD). The platform was launched by the then-secretary of the PD and former Prime Minister of Italy, Enrico Letta. Agora Democratiche was based on the open-source platform Decidim and offers online debates, online events, and coordination of in-person events. The platform garnered more than 100,000 subscriptions in just a few months.
