What would you like to learn to do but have never found anyone to teach you? How many things can you teach your friends that might help them? Do you know anyone who knows how to do something “valuable,” “interesting,” or “special”?
Based on the premise that we all have something to teach and something to learn, Platoniq launched the Common Knowledge Bank in 2006—a project that, from its very first exchange markets, has challenged the traditional education system with a healthy dose of social innovation. This project marks the beginning of a long journey to develop methodologies that foster co-creation, group learning, cooperation among organizations, and citizen participation.

Our task is to devise experimental models of participation
The BCC was dedicated to creating spaces where the exchange of knowledge was free and accessible to everyone. Inspired by the global Open Knowledge movement, the BCC sought to turn every experience into a learning opportunity. From its first Exchange Market in 2006 to its events in cities such as Barcelona, Seville, and Lisbon, the BCC has promoted free workshops and audiovisual guides covering a wide range of topics.
What motivated people to join? From a desire to learn and gain access to meeting spaces to a search for alternatives to traditional institutions, participants found in BCC a haven for their ideas and values.
