PLATONIQ FOUNDATION is a nonprofit foundation registered with the Ministry of Culture’s Registry of Foundations under registration number 1438, with tax ID number G57728172.
Our headquarters are located at CALLE FORN DE L’OLIVERA 22, 07012 PALMA (BALEARIC ISLANDS), although you can also find us at our BARCELONA office, located at CANODROM - Ateneu d’Innovació Digital i Democràtica, and in MADRID.
The Foundation’s initial endowment was 30,050 euros from ASOCIACIÓN PLATONIQ- SISTEMA CULTURAL, as recorded in the Foundation’s corporate documents.
Since its incorporation on September 30, 2011, the Foundation has been growing and expanding its activities, leading to substantial changes in both its internal structure and its public image.
Thus, on February 27, 2015, we left behind our original name, FUNDACIÓN FUENTES ABIERTAS, and changed our name to FUNDACIÓN GOTEO, in order to honor one of our major annual activities: the crowdfunding platform for social impact projects GOTEO.ORG.
Six years later, in 2021, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees decided to take another step forward. It resolved to dissolve the PLATONIQ-SISTEMA CULTURAL ASSOCIATION and have the Foundation take over its activities, thereby absorbing the staff and operations that had previously been carried out by the founding entity.
Consequently, on September 8, 2021, the Foundation was renamed FUNDACIÓN PLATONIQ.
These substantial changes have broadened the Foundation’s scope of action. According to its bylaws, the Foundation’s current purposes are as follows:
*“*Artículo 4. Fines
To promote and develop initiatives in the cooperative, social, and solidarity economy through open technologies, innovation, access to financing, and community building, driving social and cultural change toward a more ethical and collaborative society.
Article 5. Activities
The Board of Trustees has full discretion to determine the Foundation’s activities aimed at achieving its founding purposes. The Foundation shall carry out whatever activities are necessary to achieve its purposes, including:
1. Developing innovative digital tools for financing and citizen participation.
2. The development, management, maintenance, and operation of open-source technologies.
3. The promotion of crowdfunding through the Goteo.org platform.
4. Training, support, and consulting in ICTs, new types of funding, and digital communication.
5. Publicizing and promoting initiatives created and/or funded by the Foundation and through crowdfunding.
6. Designing, organizing, and conducting events, workshops, and other outreach, promotional, and training activities.
7. Designing and participating in national and international projects.
8. The creation and implementation of partnerships with public and private institutions.
9. The promotion and creation of employment, self-employment, and new cooperatives.
10. Promoting crowdfunding in secondary and higher education.
11. Promoting and funding cultural initiatives with a social mission.
Depending on the circumstances at any given time, the Foundation shall have full freedom to direct its activities toward any of the activities listed above, or toward other activities that fall under or are related to them. Likewise, the Foundation may carry out these activities directly or in collaboration with other entities—whether for-profit or nonprofit—and may seek technical and financial assistance from individuals or legal entities, public or private, domestic or foreign. Furthermore, for the purpose of generating revenue, the Foundation may engage in commercial activities whose purpose is related to the Foundation’s objectives or that are complementary or ancillary to the foregoing.”
FUNDACIÓN PLATONIQ, as an entity subject to the provisions of Law 50/2002 of December 26 on Foundations and its specific regulations, is required to submit its Annual Financial Statements and Action Plans annually.

GRANT-FUNDED PROJECTS
Fundación Platoniq is funded primarily through grants it receives annually, which enable it to carry out its activities related to democratic expertise. Thanks to these partnerships with private entities and government agencies, the Foundation can delve deeper into the health, improvement, and processes of direct democracy for both the present and the future.
